Brill thanks as ever Helen - not sure I'd seen that one before on CD. What year would it be? Is it marked on any maps so I can see the exact location? |

It's OK I think I can see it on this one. I hadn't realised how narrow St John Street was at that time to the extent that I missed the junction on that CD pic initially -

Date wise I don't know Neil. There aren't enough clues to work it out. All I can say for sure is that it was after 1850 and before 1906. The article above says the new hospital opened in 1867, so that probably reflects when it stopped being a hospital. |

I am confused again ! An article in the Coventry Herald in 1838 says that Hospital is at the extremity of Little Park Street, detached and being open on one side to the park gardens, attached is 1600 square yards of garden with rooms that can accommodate 12 to 20beds. The Coventry Standard 1868 says the Girls Reformatory was to take over the Hospital premises in Little Park Street. |

Then it looks like the right hand image was the hospital. I'd read that it was the one on the corner but probably confused by the old building being the centre of the sketch. I've had that building mislabelled since the Pictures of Coventry. Well done Anne and Neil. |

Brill - just a shame there isn't more of it visible in that CD image. Another one of those 'so near yet so far...............' |

You can see more of it from Rob's great watercolour, looking the other way.

A new reformatory was built in Kenilworth for Warwickshire and the one In Little Park Street was closed. Although they tried to sell the building it had been classed as unfit. I think it was demolished when the road widening took place for the toll road to go through Coventry/ |

I think I've shared this before but there are some snippets of interior and outside on this YouTube British Pathe video of Colin Jordan's Wedding - I think they are standing in the same room at 00:57 as your Mum and Dad Rob! |

Well spotted Neil. The plaque on the wall was the lion and 3 stars. Isn't that the Bablake school shield?
What a contrast though, with Rob's photo being so sweet and innocent. |

I hadn't noticed it was the Bablake shield Helen! Just presumed it was the City coat of arms. |
