Harman Arthur Howland

Hi. I recently found a family history information my grandfather wrote that said he was a special in the Coventry blitz and I remember a plaque on the pillars in the old Butts being displayed. It's not there now, how would I find out more details of where the commemorative plaque went and its contents and also details of grandfather's service. In the book he says as follows: That night I was on my police duties and I found a newly born perfectly formed baby dead at the Opera theatre in Hales Street, funny as that night my wife was frightened by a toad in the air raid shelter, and the toad did what the bombs could not, but I the baby was only six months gone and did not live more than twelve hours. Thus to me was soon sad and I would love to find more about Harman Arthur Howland he was a plumber who lived I presume then in Earlsdon as he had a builders yard. I thank you

I wondered if Howland and Oakley was connected - I knew Len Oakley, he was a good friend of my grandfather at Three Spires Bowling Club, so I saw a lot of him in the 50s and 60s

He was indeed a master plumber and Len Oakley and my grandfather had a builders yard in Earlsdon. My grandfather was indeed a member of Three Spires Bowls Club as was my father Michael, and my dad seems to think that Arthur was in charge of some part of the Home Guard during the blitz but I can't find anything as of yet. The entries and comments above are interesting as myself and my cousin are trying to trace the family history, as my father is the only survivor of his family now. What was your grandfather's surname.
