Don lived on Bennetts Road South, just opposite my parents house at the time of Indian Reservation.
I remember he had a rather nice little motor. |

'Indian Reservation' was Don Fardon's big hit. It reached No.3 in the UK charts in late 1970.
His only other UK chart entry was 'Belfast Boy', a song about George Best, which reached No.32 earlier the same year. Don Fardon's real name, incidentally, was Donald Maughn.

"Indian Reservation" was his 1968 cover version of a song originally written by John D Loudermilk and first recorded in 1959 by Marvin Rainwater.
Correction, as MrD says above, it was indeed 1970 |

Don Fardon took over the Hare & Squirrel when my father in law left to take over the Grange in the early to mid 70s. My wife remembers her dad showing him round |

I believe I'm correct in saying that Don was the publican of the 'Alhambra' in New Buildings when he made the record. |

That's correct. Don moved to the Alhambra from the Hare & Squirrel. He wasn't at the Squirrel for long. My wife`s mum and dad were only there for 14 months before they got their second pub. I think it may have been a training pub at the time. |

It was in 1970 Don took over the Alhambra, we used to pop in there on our way to baths when we were in 6th form - quite a shock seeing him behind the bar. I was 16 or 17 at the time. |

Thanks for your interesting info mayjan, I've been living in new Zealand for the past 21 years and haven't seen Pat since. We were mates and I went to his mom's farm in County Mayo Ireland with him a few times. I think he then lived with his wife in Corley.

Hi Pete, yes Corley rings a bell.
My late Husband Gary Mayo used to stand in for Pats drummer.

I often wonder if he's still around. |

Sorry to hear of the passing of your husband Gary . Yes I also wonder if Pat is still around, he was about 15 or so years older than me,(Im aged 66 now) he didn't smoke and looked quite fit, one time we went on holiday to Benidorm. Also mayjan I notice your from Green Lane, one of my Dads younger sisters Margaret lives there with her husband Les Foster. I had nothing to do with them as they never helped us at all when my Dad died. Kind regards pete.
