Sidney Norman Lawrence

Hi All Long shot I know but anyone out there got any info on the named person Sidney Norman Lawrence and wife Betty Lawrence, formerly Betty Burman. These are my grandfather and mother and I have been doing family research. I can trace them leaving Coventry just after WWII approx 1945/46 and going to live in Jersey. I have tracked them to there where they finally died. However the Coventry side is lacking in information. I know that he had apparently two garages which he sold at the end of the war Sidney came over from the USA just after the first world war and we know that he was originally from Russia. And that is all I know - oh he had two sons eventually, Norman Lawrence and Brian Lawrence.

Hi, some information but not a lot. In the 1935 Coventry Street Directory there is a Sidney Norman Lawrence living at number 90 Biggin Hall Crescent. And on the 1939 register he is at number 2A Vecqueray Street along with Betty. Their birthdates are given as, Sidney - 29th June 1894, although the year is disputable, on the original there are two dates, 1891 and 1894. He is listed as a garage proprietor, motor repairs. Also it appears he was a police reserve, the details are dubious but if you have prior knowledge then they could make sense. Betty, b.14th May 1899, unpaid domestic duties. Good luck.
