Circa 1920.
My father as a young lad lived in the New Buildings Hill Top, That's how he described it, with his brother & sisters.
He and a friend would climb into the abattoir at the bottom of the hill in Pool Meadow and got up to no good.
One time they got spotted, during a hasty retreat he slipped and got stuck on a railing spike, he was, very very lucky, he told me.
They built a trolley for the Hill Top Run, from Holly Trinity church at the top (as photo), winding all the way down to Pool Meadow.
They never made it to the bottom in one go, more like 10.
In 1959/62, I was in the Holy Trinity Church Scouts group, for our scout meetings we used a hall on the top floor of the building, that's now Nando's & opposite was the scout shop.
