Prof. Every one of those buildings were registered as Churchyard, the buildings they replaced 200 years ago were registered as Churchyard also. The first library in the early 1800s was run by a man named Mr Spell, bit of useless info!

Thanks Kaga. The Librarian who started by picking up books from the bombed building became the City Librarian, a Mr. Atkins of a Coventry family.

Farewell Trinity Lane of old. Sad A good (though sad) comparison with Osmiroid's great image on post #82 - you can see the same iron railings.

Prof, Seeing your coloured picture you posted with the lady walking down Trinity Lane I don't know why but I immediately thought of a modern song 'One Moment In Time' from a recent movie. The mind does play tricks on you.

Dream, I think the coloured one is a post-card if you see the caption underneath. Must say I don't know the song but that is no surprise.

I feel so deprived Dream that I never knew it. So filled with character it must have been!

Prof, I can't let this one go. Any book or document I have read - the Coventry Herald, the Mercury - say those buildings were in the church yard. Thumbs up

That makes sense Kaga - Trinity churchyard, behind the railings on the right (for the benefit of anyone who doesn't recognise the location or the direction), was probably the nearest major landmark from which to identify the Spicerstoke area (which, I guess, was a local "unofficial" name?).
