Being a suspicious sort I can't help wondering whether the point of the fire was an attempt to demolish the building and so get round the planning restriction that insisted on keeping the building. I could of course be wrong Wink

Going down Binley Road the other day I could see the house building is now very close to the Lodge, which now has some form of scaffolding etc around it. Anyone know what is happening to it? Given the terrible state it was in just a few months ago I can't imagine they could do much now other than rebuild it from scratch. Certainly wouldn't be much original left.

It may look just like a mass of scaffolding, but underneath it is Copsewood Grange, which I photographed today Thumbs up It does appear that, at long last, Morris Homes are proceeding with their development of the famous old building Cheers

Not sure about the current status but here is an interesting drone video over the Grange a couple of years ago showing just what a state it was in. YouTube

Of all my photos from our trip to Coventry yesterday, this has to be the most pleasing (in terms of the subject) Cheers Seventeen apartments have been built and I believe occupation of some has already begun - what a happy result when, for ages, it seemed that this building would be lost for ever Two more views:

That looks fabulous! Had many drinks in there during my brief time at GPT/Marconi,

As a Stoke-born (Copsewood) Coventrian I am delighted to see the wonderful completion of restoration of the Grange. My elder brother used the club and tennis courts for a long time.

Paul Maddocks has alerted me to this page "Copsewood Comes Back to Life", which had a Blue Plaque unveiled for its reopening on the 25th January 2019. Smile
