Renold chain's sports ground used to be on the corner of Broad Lane and the highway, next door to the Co-op sports field...two companies both now sadly disappeared...

Renold Chain football pitch probably the best in Coventry. Very lucky to have played on it once.

At the time there were so many good soccer pitches supported by factories. Sphinx, Standard, Jaguar, Brico, Masseys, Wickmans, AP Leamington, Rootes, Coventry Co-op, the list goes on and on. I played for the Alvis for many years, we were lucky to have them, wouldn't happen now!!! But would put the old Butts pitch as the best around!! It was junior football's "Wembley".

Went to see my lovely Mum this week - she was happy to share this - she worked in the wages Department. This was the year before she married Dad with her maiden name -

Good on,
I'm just checking that out.
Pension contribution looks good. She's weekly staff, hence that's a Friday pay ticket. Possibly working a semi-regular Saturday morning. 14/7/1963.
To fit with Hourly paid employees, the taxation tables were usually set so the working week started on a Friday, finished on a Thursday. Most hourly paid received wages on a Thursday for that reason. Also, hourly wages, were usually a week behind. So the Thursday pay day, was what had been worked the previous week.
Wages departments often worked odd times. Employee clock cards needed prep work & so on.
Looks very good. A clever lady, that's not flannel.

Great Neil, love the warning notice regarding the envelope having the correct amount enclosed. We had the same at Wickmans, one clever bloke showed me how to roll a £1 note around a pencil and extract it without opening the packet. Never tried it, as I only got £3,16/- 4d, they were hardly going to make any mistakes on that amount?
