Hey everyone,
I am trying to find the Coventry Time Team dig for my grandad as a Christmas present. He can't work a PC so would prefer it on DVD rather than streaming. Or if there is a download I can rip it to a DVD for him. I can't find it anywhere!
Does anyone know if it is available anywhere in any format, apart from 4OD?
Any help would be great.
Thank you!
Ali. |

There's a number of "Time Team Digs" DVD's available on Amazon - but they don't actualy list each sets contents
You could contact them and ask if that particular episode appears on the disc, or, there is a 6 DVD box set due for release in February 2012, you could wait and see if its on that.

Hi Ali,
If it's the first appearance of Time Team in Coventry that you'd like (1999), then I still have it on our Hard-Drive Recorder, and I can put it onto a TDK DVD for you if you wish.
I've been waiting for ages for one of the cable channels to show the second "Time Team Special" episode, when they returned to Coventry a couple of years later, but it never seems to be shown on TV - or I've perhaps missed it! But the first episode shows quite regularly, and I can record it and post it to you if that the one you need. |

I believe they list this episode (No7 of series 7) as 2001, and it is still available to view on 4OD |

It's a repeat of the first visit with 20 mins of new footage added to the end. The extra running time probably makes it awkward to schedule.

Hey, thanks to everyone who replied.
@Rob any of the Coventry digs my grandad would love. He lives abroad now but a real Cov lad at heart. Always dragging me round places and telling me the history of the city. I would love it if you could copy which ever dig you have for me. I will happily pay for it too. I work near the city so could pick it up from you if you are anywhere near town. If you dont mind. Would be a great help.
I found the 4OD one, but unfortunatly my grandad isn't very good with PC's. What a shame they dont do all these in a box set! I might also get in touch with the channel and see if there is anything they could do.
Thanks everyone! |

That came as rather a shock MR, as I was just watching Time Team an hour ago on TV. A lovely character. Condolences to his family and to his colleagues on a great programme.

Hi all,
I knew that Mick had been ill for some time. A sad loss for someone, who whatever our views on archaeology might be, enthused so many of us to think about who, where we are & why. |

I think Mick will be missed by millions of enthralled viewers all over the world, many of whom probably previously had no idea that archaeology could be so entertaining. I can honestly say that the 1999 appearance on TV of Time Team's visit to Coventry was the singular spark that started my interest in local history, and therefore soon after..... this website. So, many sincere thanks to Mick and the whole team. |

How sad - I too was watching Time Team last night here in Australia, where it is a very popular show. I always loved his unashamedly Midlands accent! Wikipedia has a good biography. True Blue Coventry Kid

Does anyone remember an off-shoot of Time Team called 'History Hunters'? It was mostly the same presenters with Tony heading it and they did an episode on watch-making in Coventry focusing on Spon End and old Chapelfields. It was available on-line as I downloaded it but can't find it now for a link, it was some time ago as I recorded it on VHS when it was first shown but due to modern technology I threw the tape away Triumph - 'The Best Motorcycle in the World'.
