Modern Machine Tools were more than just a local enginering company. Their football team was effectively a nursery team for Coventry City and apparently lost only one game in four years in the late 40s/early 50s. They supplied several players who went on to play for City's first team. The most notable of these was goalkeeper Reg Matthews, who was City's first player to be capped by England despite playing in Div.3 South at the time.
Reading this old thread, and coming across Modern Machine Tools. During the summer, I dug up a bronze plaque in my sons garden that says "Presented by MODERN MACHINE TOOLS RIFLE CLUB June 1954"
