Town Thorns, Easenhall

in 1932 my mother was sent to Town Thorns and this is where she grew up and many times she would tell me this was her happiest days. She always wanted to visit the place again but never got the chance, so if anyone on here can help me find any information on the building I would be very grateful as I feel this is all I can do for her now. I do have some photos but would love to hear any other stories, if anyone knows someone who went there too. thank you xx

I was involved in the sale of Town Thorns by the Council to BEN - the Motor Industries Benevolent Fund and recall that we had to contact the Herbert family solicitors over certain issues in his conveyance to the Council. Specifically there was a right for him to occupy a room in the House and another obligation - to take on a cook who worked there. Sir Alfred had acquired it from John Gray - the builder who had bought Coombe Abbey from the Cravens - and I suspected he might have rented it from him before that and perhaps continued to use the reserved room on visits to Coventry during the War.
