Being new to this brilliant website and heading towards my mid 70's; my mind searches for the many memories I left behind when I moved to New Zealand more than 50 years ago.
Like so many I guess, coming across this website takes me back to what life was like in my younger days. School for most of us makes up a considerable portion of our early days, so naturally my searches involved items from school.
From 1951 to 1955 I attended Barkers Butts, and this memory relates to a time in 1954 when the school had a Meccano club, anyone remember it? The photo attached may remind some of you.
We once even took a train trip to the Hornby factory (Meccano manufacturers) in Liverpool.
The photo was shown in the Coventry Evening Telegraph (my mother purchased this copy at the time) and shows my efforts in creating an electrically driven robot, as I recall all it did was walk! It was made with Meccano and cardboard. I do hope someone may recall this event as the photo shows quite a few students present.
