Simmo boxed initially for Standard Triumph then for Edgwick Trades and Labour in Cross Road, Foleshill. He was a Warwickshire schools champion so was very good. He had two brothers, Peter and Brian.

Just learned of the sad news that lifelong friend Barry Aldrick has passed away. Farewell Baz you were always a "cut above the rest"

Lived on King Edward Road in the 50s, went to Freddie's at the same time as Barry, remember him as being a good kid, always had a smile on his face. I always used to go up the road to get my hair cut at his dad's barber.💈 It's amazing now when I think back how time seems to have gone by so quickly and now here I am at 76. Rest in peace Barry!

I lived in Ranby Road and knew Barry from Freddies. When I moved to Dorset and used to return for City games I often popped in for a chat and a haircut. He was a big pal of Pete Waterman. Rest in Peace Barry.

Hi All Both my parents went to Freddies, so was just wondering if anyone remembers them, Robert McAllister & Susan Holland, they went in the years from 1948/49. Thanks

Information and memories on these subjects tends to come in dribs and drabs. It's frustrating when people miss each other. We sometimes encourage people to message long lost posters via the site email (not your real email address) but people don't always recognise them as legit when they arrive months later or for some reason they don't respond. Not everyone sets the contact button. Thumbs up

Hi All I have been occasionally looking at Rob's excellent site over the years and have now plucked up the courage to log on and this is my first post. I was at Freddies from 1964 to 1969. As with all of us some things were good and others not so. Looking at the posts many of the teachers names bring back so many memories. Perhaps this is why I have joined up. Can anyone tell me about Mr Shannon please? I was made well aware of his reputation in the first few weeks of being in his class in the first year. I cannot say I saw any inappropriate behavior from him in the five years I was at Freddies. However, it did not surprise me to find out from these pages that he was prosecuted in 1999/2000. Can anyone give me more detail about what happened? Many thanks. John

Hi John, welcome to the forum Wave Thank you for the kind words about Rob's excellent site. Double thumbs up Since we're a family friendly site, we try to keep discussion of certain subjects to a minimum, albeit we understand that the issues are important. A link to a news article is fine. However if anyone knows details beyond the main stream or want to discuss them in more depth, perhaps send a message through the forum directly to John's contact button. The messages go to a dummy email and are only forwarded to private emails by the system. Reply via the same route. Thus preserving everyone's privacy and security. Double thumbs up
