I think I've mentioned on here before but I keep in touch with a chap called Andy Qunta who was originally the keyboard player in Hazel O'Connor's band Megahype. Andy played with Hazel in the Rock against Racism gig - headlined by The Specials and previously mentioned on here which occurred at the Butts on June 20th 1981. A recent post on FB caused me to exchange messages again with Andy and I shared with him what the venue looks like now (with the help of Mark Osborne's brilliant thisisthen website - https://thisthen.co.uk/)
It wasn't until I looked more closely at this Now & Then :
I've realised you can even make out the exact same trees!
btw for those that know their 80s music - Andy co-wrote John Farnham's 'You're the Voice' ! |

That's a great song - I had no idea about Andy co-writing it! You're the Voice has been covered by some pretty big artists over the decades, including a great recent-years "heavy" version by Norwegian band Jorn. (Fantastic that you can still see those same trees, too!) |
