I know the 20 goes to Bedworth, 20a turns into Windmill Rd, continues to the hospital, the 20E turns into Oban Road, Longford, the 48 Stagecoach goes to Atherstone, all travel up the Foleshill Rd. I think there is a 50 something too which use to go by Grangehurst school. Good question though. I am surprised Aldermans Green hasn't got a bus route except the one you mentioned.

I thought the 6A now ran into Aldermans Green. I agree that bendy buses are not really made for our roads.

One of the reasons Boris got rid of the bendy buses was because when both doors opened at a bus stop, lots of passengers got on using the rear door thereby avoiding paying. Oh my

Sadly the 6A doesn`t go to Lentons Lane which is about 1/2 mile over Tusses Bridge.

Remember the magic buses? One of two magic buses that would get you home after concerts at "The Lanch" as they finished way after the last "normal" buses. We had the one that did Sewell Highway, Bell Green, Wyken and then Binley and Willenhall. I would leap off at the Binley Fire Station stop (if I wasn't held on by my mates to the Princethorpe Way stop!) and would stagger (3 or 4 Newcastle Browns was plenty enough to have me rocking) home to Brookvale Ave. Happy times!

Anyone remember or know of any former bus line workers from the Daimler at Radford as my dad used to work on the axles from 1962-63 and he once told me he fabricated a cover to keep the road tester dry while out test driving the chassis without the bodies on, one turned up at our house one day in mid 60s whilst on a test drive, as a kid I wondered what the hell pulled up outside, until my dad said oh its a bus with no body on lol, dad retired in 79 after finishing off his time doing bench work at Browns Lane, I remember his foreman at Radford was called Mr Slater.

Hi Jaks, I lived in Radford in the 60's and used to see a lot if those topless buses. The poor drivers used to dress like early pilots in leather coats and flying helmets, they looked so cold. I bet they were grateful for a bit of cover !

I also used to see these bus chassis regularly being driven up the main Coventry Road at Exhall with the drivers wrapped up against the weather and sitting in makeshift seats.

Thanks annewiggy, david h, and midland red for your responses to my post on former Daimler bus line workers at Radford, love the old photo of the chassis being tested thanks, dad was a Lancashire lad as well by the way, this post has put a smile on my face because when you said up and down Cov Rd, Exhall seeing the chassis being tested, that's where we lived at the time, Armson Rd,so that would have been handy for the driver. Big grin Big grin

These ones are actual Daimlers, clearly showing the number in production at one time.

I don't think I have posted this picture before, but a nostalgic view of Coventry City Transport buses in the 1960's This is how I remember them, going shopping to buy a new dress in the precinct for a night at the Locarno !

Hi Anne & thank you Wave I am unable to read the destination blinds, but guessing from the stop positions from my memory, the nearest a KVC, maybe the No 17 to Baginton Village. The bus behind, a JKV, might be No 16 to Green Lane. I can just smell the aroma coming from Lyons coffee shop. Cheers Cheers Cheers
