Loved the pictures Keith, especially the one of Broadgate, it brought back memories of my first date with my late husband Gary. The picture seems to be exactly where he picked me up in his mates car. We went off to a country pub called the Fleur-de-Lys where they had lovely crusty cheese batches and crunchy pickled onions. They also served really tasty pies and it soon became a favourite of ours during our courting days.
Our meeting place was always "Under the Elephant"

Another old topic with a perfect view of the cars that we drove in the 1960's and in my case in the 1970's.
On the left is a Mark 1 Jaguar from the 1950's. In the mid-70's a friend had one which I drove a few times. It eventually failed the MOT and nobody wanted it so it went for scrap.
The blue car is a Vauxhall Victor FB from somewhere between 1961 and 1964. In 1976/77 I owned the estate version which served me well until the MOT ran out and it was scrapped. I only paid £30 for it so it was no great loss.
My brother had a grey mini van as his first car in about 1970, I think that one was actually sold on to someone else.
The car on the right is a Ford Cortina Mark 1. I had one of those in about 1974. I paid £50 for it and sold it for little more than scrap money. Again no problem because that is what we did if we could not afford a decent car.
Amazing what memories a photograph of a few cars can drag from the depths of our brain.
