Am I correct in thinking that this establishment is that previously called "Browns"? In the vicinity of the Council House? If so my youngest son has recently been commissioned to do some paintings therein. I'm not in a position to see them yet but wondered if anyone on this site frequents the place, and if so can they confirm this is the place in question and that they have seen the pictures?

If it IS Ken Browns' establishment, make sure he has his money upfront!

Sorry but I haven`t been to Brown`s since they refused to serve the servicemen and have no intention of visiting it ever again, no matter what it`s called Angry

Yes, I remember this, I wonder if that's why they changed the name?

Someone told me that the Brown family still have something to do with it. To be honest I won`t bother going in to find out either

It seems not Matchle55, my youngest daughter and her girl / men friends would not go, same reason as MickW said. I hope your son gets recognition for his work, or to display his pictures elsewhere. My brother used to hang my mum's paintings where he worked at Walsgrave Hospital, or there are other pubs, banks, doctors' surgeries, offices, they all hang pictures or paintings. Smile

The Brown family sold the bar and it's now owned by the Higgs trust and run by the people who run Inspire (I believe). I go in there regularly, but the last time I went in the prices had gone up so much I had to sell a kidney to get a drink. The food looks good, though, and it was always a good bar. No trouble, and a good atmosphere. One of the few places I'd go in the city centre. When it was Browns they always had artwork up, a lot of it by students, I believe, but I can't remember what it has up at the moment. I was last in there about 2 months ago.

Now it has changed hands I may go in but the fact it was a public toilet in a previous life has always put me off.

One kidney left, so that's one trip. What else can I sell?
