Midland Red. Your second photo 'Pegasus'. Could you please tell me where the monument stands, and when placed there? Thank you. Kaga.

I take it you realise that The Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces Memorial is at The National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire? On that assumption, I take it you wish to know the location within the site - it is marked with the yellow circle on this Google View My photos of the memorial are here

Midland Red. Thank you for that. No I had no idea, every time I try to find out it comes up with Duxford. I have been to the Arnhem one in Holland, and the old museum at Aldershot. Neither can I find about reunions - as you can guess I'm new to this computer and struggling, but I'll get there. Thanks again. Kaga.

Thanks Midland Red. My uncle is commemorated in Staffordshire. His plane crashed just after the war was over and it's fitting that those who died when supposedly it was all over are remembered too.

Thanks for sharing Cliff Thumbs up Great shots - The Park is a fitting setting for this. First one I have missed for a few years but glad to say Earlsdon RFC did a full line - heads bowed, of all the Junior sides on one pitch for the minutes silence.

Here in Canada we long have held our memorial services - services of remembrance - on November 11 itself, so acts of remembrance will be made tomorrow across the several time zones of our land. Encouraged by the posting from NeilsYard, I checked out the photographs from this past Sunday's Remembrance in our much loved neck of the woods and agree with the poster that the photographs were great. Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Cliff.

Hi all Wave A slight deviation off topic, but following our Wednesday Belgrade butty this morning, we stood in the precinct to observe the time of remembrance. Sadly, many people paid no attention whatsoever, but that did not detract from my thoughts of & for those that suffered pain & loss for our freedom.

Just to add to this - thought I would share this. This is a photograph of 617 Squadron taken in January 1945 at RAF Woodhall Spa where the squadron was based. Yes the famous Dambusters squadron. Seated front row on the very far left is Bill Eaves - my dad's cousin hence the link to Coventry. The 617 squadron online site contains detailed flight logs of all their sorties which show: - On 08.06.44 he was a crew member of Lancaster Mk.III ND472 (O) bombing Saumur with cluster bombs - On 27.08.44 he was in Lancaster Mk.I DV402 (K) bombing shipping in Brest - On 11.09.44 he was in Lancaster Mk.III PB415 (S) bombing the Tirpitz. - On 23.09.44 he was in Lancaster Mk.I ME559 (Y) dropping a Tallboy on the Dortmund-Ems canal - On 03.10.44 he was in Lancaster Mk.I DV385 (V) bombing the Westkapelle sea wall; sortie abandoned Bill's brother and dad's other cousin Ted also served but it was not until his funeral many years ago when a guard of honour turned up did the family know he was in the SBS behind enemy lines during the war. Needless to say we are very proud of them and all, and why we still salute, honour and respect them all to this day and beyond.

You have great reasons to be very proud Neil and what a splendid photo. A few memories shared today no doubt. Coincidence, they were showing the movie on TV last week. Thank you so much for sharing with us.
