High House, Warwick Road Again long since gone Bill Aston owned for a number of years, he formed a Tennis Club Some flats there as well What is it history and past uses

Hi David Wave High House was named as "Highclere" on the earliest map I could find (1888) although later maps show it as "High House" (The building shown below it was "Hylands")

In 1891 and 1901 High House was lived in by a lady called Francis Verrall and her daughters. In 1902 she had a fatal accident in a dog cart. It was advertised for sale in 1904 by George Loveitts.

1911 Census, William Hicks, coachman, listed at High House, with wife Sentire Coincidentally, I remember that one of the leading tennis players there in the 60s was named Hicks (can't remember his first name) Oh my
