Does any one know the reason the Blue Boar Service Station was so named I am researching the History of Passenger Vehicle Disposals and Fleet Car Sales who occupied the old express dairies site on A45 just along from the Blue Boar site they were there form 1955 to 1962 the Frank Cowley took over. I was told last night there were Railway sidings nearby was this why the Milk Depot was built there also I believe the Dairy site was a Bacon Factory before being a Milk Depot was this why the Blue Boar was named. All a bit vague is any of the above right?

There was a Blue Boar Farm at the location in 1887 if you look on old Maps at Co-Ords 445012 by 272012 or if you put in the post code CV23 9LG and follow the links. Pubs named Blue Boar were sometimes originally called the White Boar which was Richard III's heraldic symbol but on his death the pubs were hastily renamed the Blue Boar after the Earl of Oxford who was Henry Tudor's chief supporter and the signs were repainted.

Blue Boar Farm still exists, on the north side of the A45 diagonally opposite the site of the Blue Boar cafe and service station which was at the end of The Straight Mile There was a small goods yard at Dunchurch Station, just along the A45 towards the village which bears its name, on the east side of the Rugby-Leamington line, with the depots to which you refer on the west side of the line
