Some videos from day 2 of the 2010 Coventry Festival of Motoring. The vehicles set off from the War Memorial Park for a run through Warwickshire. A great spectacle despite the weather.

2014 MotoFest
Don't think this has been very well publicised but looks a good event all the same!
Interesting to see Cox Street Race Track! (and Theatre One still seems to be standing!!)
I'll look to try to pop down tomorrow once I've slept post night-shift, plenty of action on Sunday still.

Wow, thanks for that Neil - and great video from one of our own forum members!
Not very well publicised? - I can't believe I've neither seen or heard anything about this event. And what are those strange things scattered all over Broadgate? Oh hang on, they're people! Just shows doesn't it? |

Shocking isn't it. You have things in a city centre - events, shops, restaurants, bars, etc - that people want to go to, and there are people there.
Shame it's only once or twice a year.

Thanks for sharing the video. Have to say a big well done to the organisers - for a first time festival on such a scale it was epic. Am sure it will be better advertised next year.
Here is a slightly shorter video featuring clips from Sunday:

Thanks for sharing the videos guys. I think the problem re advertising was that the team working on Motofest was very small and they all had other full-time jobs, with not a lot of financial backing either, so they were rushed off their feet trying to cover everything. For a first time effort it was very close to 100% spot on. Just better signboarding on the ring road for us strangers to actually find the display locations and more marshalls to "sweep" us in to them once we got close.
My wife Linda and I attended the full 3 days from Chris Barrie's opening lecture to the Sunday parade laps and displays. It was hugely enjoyable and the format doesn't need much (if any) change for next year. The people of Coventry were extremely friendly and welcoming, many coming over to chat about their time working for Coventry's great car makers.
We brought one of Coventry's finest back to her "build" home for Motofest: "Bagheera" our silver grey 1988 5.3 litre V12 Jaguar Sovereign series 3 saloon. She certainly got a lot of people asking about running such a beautiful machine. You can see her in the opening minute or so of Neil's video displayed on Broadgate (reg E722 LLO) parked next to the red and white Triumph Herald coupe. She is also briefly glimpsed on BrotherJoybert's video of the parade laps just behind the white Porsche 944 turbo.
Can I ask a favour guys? Because we were taking part in the static displays and then in the Sunday parade laps we didn't get any pics and/or videos of Bagheera in action. Would it be possible to obtain copies of the 2 videos on here and could you ask anyone else who has pics/video of her if we could obtain a copy?
Thanks
Peter and Linda Jones

Hi all
I actually enjoyed my day at the moto-fest, but then I was prepared for the most likely outcome & knew what areas to avoid.
Happy me on Saturday.

I'm glad you enjoyed your day Philip. It didn't look like flaming June weatherwise. |

Philip, I am glad you enjoyed your day. Together with thousands of others I enjoyed my day as well. Most people thought things out and decided whether to go into the town by car or whether to use public transport. I parked by the canal basin but my son chose to use a taxi. My wife and I had a good look round and then enjoyed a cup of tea and a toasted muffin at the cafe in the canal basin. We did sit outside but it was bit cold when the sun went in. I still think things could have run a lot more smoothly with a bit more effort from the council. Like many others I am looking forward to the 2016 Motafest. Warwick and Hinckley both have classic car displays in their streets, but both choose a Sunday which is probably less disruptive to those who have no interest in old cars. Regards. Roger |

A couple of pictures from my morning at the MotoFest in Coventry today
They are taken trying to convey just one of the annual events that take place in Coventry so the relationship between the vehicle and a Coventry landmark was important.

Here's a walkabout of most of the static displays from MotoFest 2021 on Sunday 8 August. It starts off at Ironmonger Row, goes up Trinity Street, around Broadgate / Hertford Street / Upper Precinct then on to the Council House before concluding with the Riley's outside the Uni / Coventry Cathedral - this section starts at about 23 mins in for the Riley enthusiasts (there is also one near the start of the video in Ironmonger Row)

Brilliant video BJ! Really good to see how the new city centre looks. I didn't like the removal of Broadgate's grassy roundabout, but I have to admit it works as a "plaza". Loved the cars too - especially the beautiful black Austin Atlantic! They were built for export to the US, but my parents had a friend in the US Airforce who had bought one to be eventually shipped over to the USA - a sky blue convertible. I was probably about four years old, and so excited when they took us for a drive! True Blue Coventry Kid

Excellent video! There were certainly a lot of Rileys displayed, but notable by their absence were the RM series. I only spotted one drophead close to a couple of Pathfinders. They must have all been hiding! |

If anyone visited the display in the Cathedral ruins a couple of weeks ago which started Motofest - the white Triumph Herald was my cousin's! He had a Vitesse years ago which he sold to Lynval Golding. |
