I thought it was taken outside the 'Hand & Heart' public house (pavements a lot wider there).

Yes, you're correct, Mods. As per this photo, the Odeon was slightly further up the street, but not very far Thumbs up

Walked down there thousands of times to town from Swan Lane. Saw The Guns of Naverone at the Odeon among others. Walked everywhere in the 60s when I was a kid.

I am still trying to find whereabout 140 Far Gosford Street would have been in about 1750. It was called Bishop Blaze, having a 4.75 yard frontage, 7.5 yard back side, 2.5 bays and a garden 84 yards x 6 yards at the lower end. This was a vital point in my family tree.

In 1850, 140 was four doors west of the Hare and Hounds at 136, on the south side of the road. On later maps, two of the properties next to the pub were merged and that would have put the property three doors down, right on the edge of the map. Would be 139A the solicitor and barber shop today, I think? However, the buildings don't look old enough to me to have been around in 1750 but they may have been brick clad or rebuilt on the same footprint. In 1850 there was a slaughter house in the backyard shared with next door.

Another CD cracker as not only does it show the pre-Sky Blue Way layout with cars turning in from Lower Ford Street but also The Peacock -

Another recent post on FB - can anyone work out the ghost sign on the building behind the School? The building is still there now but much reduced in height -

Nice picture Neil, Thumbs up that matches up with this view. The building was the Cricketers Arms and the sign said Ind-Coope's which I'm assuming was the brewery.
