Does anyone know connection between this Trench's or French's corner and French's yard which ran I believe from Gosford St to the New Inn through to Godiva St. I know this because Eli French was my grandfather and lived at 44 Oxford St (house still there). I know this area or rather knew it well in the 50s and 60s as a bobby with Coventry City Police and Far Gosford St was 10 beat. Few cars in those days everybody walked the beat.

Can anyone remember seeing what I think was a PDF to some rare images from All Saints in Far Gosford St? Not the one already on this thread - it had some terrific images from the north side of the church from West Street / South Street?

Was this what you were after Neil? PDF about Far Gosford with pictures I haven't seen before I'm looking to find out what was originally in the plot the Church used. Nothing was there in 1850, there weren't even plot markings. I know that there is/was a sign outside the plot with a potted history. Has anyone seen it? Does it talk about what was there before the church? The PDF above talks about the Far Gosford area being very run down just before the Civil War, perhaps it's been empty since before that?

Thanks but it wasn't that one Helen - there was another with some B&W images from South Street / West Street side.

Dreamtime, the Moo Kow Milk Bar I remember was on the left at the top of Far Gosford St when facing Gosford Green.

Many thanks Prof, for reminding me of my Knickerbocker Glory days sitting on those high stools in the Moo Kow Bar. If I remember correctly the Victorian fountain was still in action on the corner of the green in those days. 'Those days' - the times I have said that lately! Thumbs up

The Moo Kow milk bar. That really takes me right back to the early 50s. After church on a Sunday morning at All Saints, Far Gosford St we'd go to the Moo Kow for a Horlicks and a Wagon Wheel. I seem to remember that the rooms over the cafe were later used by the Hazel Hathaway dance school.

Prof, your picture of 1955, wasn't the cinema just to the right of those people where the shops jut out?

Yes Kaga, in my previous post, the Scala (later Odeon) was on the RH where you said. The photo looks towards Gosford Green. There was also a greengrocers next one going towards Gosford Green, and before the plate glass window you can see which was a linens or bed ware type of shop. Forget the name.
