The T.A. centre was opened in Green's rd about 1954 and was used by both the 9th Medium W/S R.E.M.E who moved from Quinton Rd, and also the Airborne who I believed moved from Binley. Tuesday night was drill night for the R.E.M.E and we were paid 3/. a week bus fare. There was a Sergeants mess and also an O.R.s canteen. Both opened as the training(?) session ended and closed when the last man went home. There was also a large drill hall marked out as a badminton court. At the back of the main building were the R.E.M.E. workshops with Johny Cant, my good friend, as permanent staff .Great times...

My brother, Geoff Woodford, used this barracks as a T A member in the late 50's/early 60's. We lived in Keresley End at the time. I remember going to a party there, as a little girl, and meeting some of the Sky Blues players.

I am sure I went there in the 60's and I have no idea why but I went somewhere in Keresley to an indoor rifle range and was taught how to fure a 2.2 rifle. I was quite good at it as well. Big grin

I was at primary school with a girl whose father was based at the barracks, being aged 5 at the time I don't remember anything else about him, can't even remember the girls name. Blush Blush Blush This was at Springfield Primary next door to the Coronation Club.
