I know we have had a very similar view to this one before, but Paul Reynolds on FB gave me permission to share this one which his dad took. Had to add as it's in colour and some great detail is brought to life. Where would this have been taken from?

Brill comes to my mind, Neil. I see buildings more identifiable when in colour. Thumbs up

A bit more (distant!) delicious content which is zoomable, thanks to Coventry Digital.

My Nana, Mary Elizabeth Kendall, was required to do 'war work', so found a job as a filing clerk at The Towers!

Welcome back, Prof. Wave That would be a very good topic for discussion. There must have been many women enrolled for 'war work' in Coventry. I had an aunt that became an ambulance driver before and after the war.

Absolutely right Dreamtime. I've some lovely stuff of women chemists at Courtaulds Including the amazing Dr Vera Furness, who I believe eventually joined the Courtaulds board as the first women on a FTSE 100 board ever.

Cracker from CliffB - taken from Warwick Road. The car is a grey 8hp Swift 2 seater which was registered 11th May 1912. The driver is William Henry Jones, a watch repairer who lived at 38 Westwood Road in Earlsdon. The occasion is Alexandra day, 9th June 1917.

My previous post #52 about this seems to have lost its image so reposting here as another image has turned up of the Greyfriars Green Messerschmitt 110 - with some additional detail thanks to the new 'Coventry Smorgasbord' Facebook page - October 1940. A German Messerschmitt 110 which crashed on a hill in the south west of England was displayed for a week at Greyfriars Green. The pilot was seriously injured and the observer died in the crash. Its machine guns were removed before it went on display. It was transported by lorry to Coventry and was originally intended to be a focal point for fundraising efforts for War Weapons week in Coventry but it arrived late.
