Neil, don't laugh but as soon as I saw the above photo, I was transformed and found myself standing on that very pavement, maybe that year too. It was seeing the old Coventry buses driving by and I remembered walking down that side of Corporation Street. It could have been just a few minutes ago. After 46 years one never forgets where one's heart lies. Thank you for that. Double thumbs up

Yes, Dream and you had just come from Agers with another pair of shoes! Am I right?

Most likely, Prof, but I am ashamed to say smart footwear was always a weakness of mine. Wink My main weakness these days is staying up late and catching up with my cyber friends round the other side of the world. May you all stay well and enjoy your Bank Holiday. Double thumbs up

It's 1949 Mick. The Britain from Above images are best seen at source where they're zoomable with a login and are dated. Double thumbs up Britain from Above set for Coventry

This image shows Corporation Street on a cool night in 1965. I'm intrigued as to the Standard car showroom on the left hand side - adjacent to Agers shoe shop, I think. Can anyone please enlighten me? - it was two years before I came to the city to work for Coventry Climax. TIA.

They seem to be advertising from the end of 1934, calling it the New gas showrooms
