Oldest building in Coventry

A friend of mine, in his book "Coventry, echoes of the past" suggests that Wyken church is the oldest building within the modern city boundary of Coventry, with a known history going back more than 800yrs. has anyone any thoughts on that. Alan.

I guess it must definitely rank among the oldest of Coventry's buildings. When we visited St. Mary Magdalene during Heritage Weekend a couple of years ago we were shown some original Norman slit windows in the chancel, which apparently date from around 1100, and the font is c1200. Apart from fragments of foundations beneath ground level at the Priory I can't even think of anything in the ancient town centre which is of Norman age.

I remember going around the church when we were kids we were allowed inside the door was always open but we treated it with respect, i remember the grave in the church yard with the skull and cross bones on it they used to say it was where a pirate was buried.
