Richmonds of Holbrooks

I lived in Coventry until I was 24 leaving in 1973. I now live in Exmouth Devon. recently I was taking some rubbish to the tip when I saw a stone flagon marked "To be returned when empty to RICHMONDS, Holbrooks, Coventry 1909". I can supply a photo if it helps. I obviously bought it and could not believe the coincidence, in fact we still visit Holbrooks where my wife's father still lives. Have you any information about the company and what they dealt in?

1912 Directory shows them as Mineral Water Works, seemingly adjacent to The Park Gate Hotel

Great, I cannot imagine how it ended up in south Devon! I assume the mineral water was used for battery / industrial purposes rather than domestic consumption? Anyway thanks for your prompt and helpful post. It may be of interest but the 1963 intake of apprentices to Armstrong Whitworth (Baginton) are holding a reunion on Monday the 19th. Around twenty of the original intake have been contacted and will be there. It is 50 years to the day (Monday the 19th) since we all sat apprehensively awaiting our first taste of factory life.

They appear to have moved to Stoney Stanton Road by 1914 and were also doing pickles as they were advertising for staff in the Coventry Telegraph. Mineral water was a drink, probably before pop was invented.
