Taking place this Saturday 10th August, it will allow locals to see (if they missed it the first time) the wonderful "Godiva" that travelled from Coventry to London under 'pedal-power' at the time of the Olympics last year.
Arriving at the city centre at around 12noon, it will travel around the ring-road before arriving in Broadgate about 2:30pm. Lots of other things going on in the centre. Well worth a visit. This is taken from their publicity material:- Curated by Coventry based Imagineer Productions, Godiva Awakes: The Homecoming is the first in a series of annual street arts events planned to celebrate Godiva's Awakening in the city, to celebrate the rich heritage and cultural life of the city and to showcase the best of visiting national and international street artists. Imagineer Productions have teamed up with Coventry City Council and Cycle Coventry to create this year's event. Cycle Coventry is a three year project which aims to improve facilities for cyclists and pedestrians, improving or creating new safer routes and providing new crossing facilities, connecting key parts of the city, as well as providing practical information and support to encourage more people, of all ages, to enjoy the health and recreational benefits of cycling. The homecoming of Godiva Awakes will see the launch of a major new campaign to get the city moving. Coventry on the Move will encourage people to get up and about - leave the sofa behind, get active and enjoy a healthier, better life. More info can be found here: LINK Mods note: I have also put this in the "Events" section, but as it's fairly short notice I'll repeat it here then remove this post afterwards.

Hi all, Wave It is good that such a rare & momentous event is posted in our forum section, as I am sure there will be responses from tomorrow. I hope to be viewing, following on from a Trinity St breakfast. I am looking forward to seeing pictures posted on here. This is not flannel, but you Tony, & Midland Red make picture taking an art form. Most of us can record pictures on our mobiles, but mine are a million miles away from the compositions that you two create. After all of the very bad news of late, including current on-going issues, it is a relief that we have an event to lift us like this, right in the middle of our city. Wave ps Not too sure about the dummy. Was it used in an episode of "Last of the Summer Wine", where they had to smuggle Marina past Pearl???

Gosh, I'm shattered, just returned after following her around for the last 5 hours! Big grin Here's one of her about to finish her journey around the ring road. They estimated it would take about an hour to get round, I think they must have all eaten their Weetabix 'cos they completed it in around 20 minutes! And arriving in Broadgate - there was about 1 1/2 hours between these shots! Lots more photos but it will be sometime tomorrow (after I've been to the charity match probably) before I will have time to sort through them Thumbs up

It was really good! We watched from the bridge over the ringroad near Hill Street, and then had some lunch and later watched her walk down the high street. Great achievement, and the city centre was packed and the atmosphere was so good. Nice weather as well. Why can't it be like this all year round?
