Astons Coaches operated from Marton from around 1950 to 1970 serving Coventry schools and factories and particularly Armstrong Whitworth Over this period they operated over 250 vehicles a lot on long term hire to construction companies Laings, Turriff, Shand Their vehicles were never the newest except for a Harrington Legionnaire bought new in 1964 However they did operate some of the most unusual vehicles in the country Leyland Panda, only one ever built Crellin Duplex, only twenty ever built, they had three Rolls Royce, Harrington had one, only three built Rutland Clipper, only two built, they had one Anyone remember them, a long while ago, if they ever were painted in company colours, they were green and cream The likes of Bedford OB never stood a chance, too common

Astons Coaches operated from Marton from around 1948 to 1970 run by Harry Aston a former founding member of Astons Garages and Light Cars Coventry They had one of the most unusual fleet of vehicles in the vountry in the 1950 and 1960's running a huge number of vehicles rented out on contract hire - in 1959 there were 20 on hire to Turriffs alone. The fleet included the one and only Leyland Panda, one of only two Rutland Clippers, three Crellin Duplex (only 20 were made), two Rolls Royce Harringtons A full list is available to any one who wants it They had a close association with Passenger Vehicle Disposals and Fleet Car Sales of Dunchurch and Wolston Grange Vehicles ran to most of the car factories and schools including Armstrong Whitworth, both at Baginton and Bitteswell Does any one remember them and the routes, any pictures or adverts around, any ex-employees. Does any one remember PVD and FCS, they operated from 1955 to 1962 buying and selling a huge number of coaches and buses Both Harry Aston and Henry Bowen who ran PVD frequented the Dilke Arms, the Leofric, Sunflower Restaurant (Station Square), Dun Cow at Dunchurch Need all your memories

You are quite right, Astons Coaches closed 1970 but Bill Aston bought the site and rented it out until quite recently, it was sold by his widow Astons bought sold and scrapped as well as operated, the heyday being late fifties early sixties - in 1959 alone there were 29 coaches on contract hire to Turriff Construction alone. A big knock was when AWA was closed This site was bought by Harry Aston for just £50.00 around 1948, the garage was built around 1956
