I hope all you Coventry folk are going to be able to get out this weekend to see the bits of our heritage that are not always on display?
I know that Midland Red will be out and about, and I'll be seeing Innis Road for a short while at the Transport Museum on Saturday morning, too.
I hope a few of you will also pop into St. Mary's Guildhall, next to the Old Cathedral in Bayley Lane - it's a magnificent old place and is free to enter even when it's not Heritage Weekend. (Sunday to Thursday, 10am - 4pm). I'll be hanging around in there with the family for an hour or so from about 11am this Saturday if anyone wants a chat.

Unfortunately, I have to take Celia to hospital this morning and it is likely that they will keep her in for at least a few days. So it may be all off for tomorrow. I'll let you know later, when I have more information.

I do hope Celia is alright Laurence, please give her my best wishes. Her health is more important than a coffee, so make sure that she gets well for the next time we can meet up.
All the best,
Rob |

Good morning all. I was listening to Marian from BBC Coventry & Warwickshire this morning talking about the Heritage weekend, with her views from the top of the Ramada Hotel & also talking to Roger Bailey from inside the Drapers Hall.
I am sorry about Celia, & hope that she gets well soon.
I am Marian's secret public transport correspondent, so secret that she does not know about it. Coventry had its own version of 'On the buses inspector Blakey' known as Graham. If you/he is reading this, please turn up in uniform. You would look just the part on the vintage bus tour.
Let's hope for a better weather couple of days than is forecasted. Is Bill Giles around? He would sort the weather out for us. |

The present Mrs Red and I look forward to joining you all for coffee around 10am - and I will certainly join the trip to St Mary's Hall |

Hi Roger,
Yes, "Heritage Open Days" weekends occur each year over the second weekend in September. They're a great opportunity to go into some old places that aren't usually open to the public, or in some cases open for free rather than charging. Not all places taking part are necessarily old either - venues like the Belgrade Theatre have tours around inside, and sometimes the BBC studio, too.
Cheers,
Rob

View from the Ramada Hotel, 16th Floor.
Hold tight!
Just as well that the vintage heritage bus was on standby, ready for a modern bus breakdown. What a pip!
It was lovely meeting friends from our site, along with the two youngsters who also came along.
