I can't find anything in Coventry Planning, Neil. It does say it is a listed building |

I`m sure I read that it was being converted to student flats. |

OK so I asked the question to the Love Earlsdon FB page and had this response re: The Albany :
The scaffolding is to make repairs to keep the building in a decent state. I don't know how often you walk past it, but the ceiling in the front room had fallen down.
As far as I know, the community preservation order still stands, so it can't be converted into anything else
Not sure who is funding that but I hate seeing it empty Apparently it's owned by the Coventry Freemen's Charity. |

So there is a Facebook page just created for 'The New Albany' opening within 5 weeks! (although it does mention smart dress so hoping it does not go too wine-bar-like and stays proper pub-like). |

Great to see that The Albany reopens Friday 23th November. I'm pretty sure it won't be too wine bar-like. It's a venture worthy of support and a venue supporting live music. |

Indeed Vernon - I'm liking what they found (and are preserving!) under the floor/carpet.

Thanks for the link MR. The Pilot goes way back for me when I lived in Beake Ave. It looks 100% nicer now than it did then. I do like the nautical theme. |

The 'New' Albany reopens next Friday! Sorry not sure if you have to be a 'FaceBooker' to see this but photos here of the refurb. |
