Market Street (to Smithford Street) and Market Place (to Broadgate)

In the Coventry Herald it says Market Square. It also says the workmen found a large subterranean passage about 15ft deep.

So I'm guessing that it was when they built Boots off Broadgate?

The article just mentions that the site is the Old Mayor's Parlour police Court.

So this building to the right of the bus on the left. That replaced these buildings on the right of the archway. All very old buildings with cellars.

We have seen this image of the old Market Clock tower before - one of very few taken inside looking west - ..................however thanks to the excellent Coventry Smorgasbord FB page - we now have another view but looking out from the tower southwards. I did used to wonder looking at that first image if there were any more! Just need one of the tower interior now............ A photograph taken from the damaged clock face in the Market Hall tower - looking out on Vicar Lane with Christ Church spire in the background. It was published on 8 April 1941. The church was destroyed two days later (on 10 April) in the second air raid of the Easter Blitz on Coventry.
