Hi covkid, In the Pictures of Coventry there were colour aerial photos of wider stretches of Coventry that might have been from the right era but I seem to remember they were of poor quality.

Hi all, A query. Hawkesbury Lane and Blackhorse Rd have been mentioned in posts lately. I can find no evidence of Hawkesbury Lane in modern times other than the name of a railway station, also Hawkesbury junction refers to a canal junction, not a railway. Can anyone enlighten me, please. Official history records that it was a turnpike road. Is it what is now just a footpath near to the canal junction?

Hi Philip Google maps shows Hawkesbury Lane as a continuation of Aldermans Green Road (the B4109).

Thanks Mick. It is odd that the station isn't near the lane. Maybe the canal, the rail and the mine works have redirected the original lane? Or maybe the rail people just liked the name?

Thank you both. It gets even stranger as there is a T junction off the B4109, also called Hawkesbury Lane.

Hi Kaga it looks like Parrotts Grove goes from Lentons Lane junction and lasts for about 300 yards or so. Philip The Hawkesbury Lane showing at the junction you mentioned is a dead end with what looks like some industrial units at the end of the road. Best guess is that it's an extension of the lane to give the places an address and post code?

Philip, Hawkesbury in olden days stretched from Exhall to Woodway Lane, and near to Bell Green, before Hall Green Road was built. My aunt lived in Hawkesbury Hall. I was often as a visitor. On the opposite side of the hall was Grove Farm, another relative named Smith.
