OK! I had to look it up, but I always remember the Coventry registrations : RW, WK, KV, VC, DU, HP So you'll be able to look out for those!

Can you tell me where I can find more information about Rudge bikes please? My mother-in-laws cousin "made" a Holtaway-Rudge, which was his own modified grass track racing bike. But, we'd like to see if we can find any more about it. thanks Lisa

Sorry the image is a bit wonky - couldn't get it to lay flat. It's a copy from the Daily Mirror of 1920. Be interested to know what the road is in the foreground, or is it merely artistic licence.

The person that you need to speak to is Dave McMahon who is a member of the Vintage Motorcycle Club and is the Rudge marque specialist. By coincidence he lives in Coventry and you can contact him through his business which is Dave Mac propshafts, Northey Rd.

Crow Lane. The ornate building to the left was the design office and was pulled down for no good reason in the 1990s. The workshops to the right were destroyed in the Blitz but had not been used for years before the war anyway.

Absolutely fascinating Argon, thank you. It's quite magical to see what literally looks like mis-shaped lumps of waste metal being turned into precision gears and machined parts before your very eyes!
