Last year I decided to walk the Coventry Canal Art Trail from the Canal Basin to Hawkesbury Junction (approx. 5.5 miles), this was a £340k initiative back in 1990's. Read about it here I was left with a feeling of sadness, as quite a few of the art works have now fallen victim to neglect or the vandals. Having said that, not all the pieces of art are damaged and on the large it's still worth the effort as you see Coventry from a completely different perspective. Has anyone else taken the trouble to do the walk? What are your thoughts? A small selection of my photos:

Me and my wife used to walk along the canal quite often in summer (before we had kids), and the art work was interesting. Even back in the late 1990s/early 2000s some of it had been vandalised. We used to stop off at the Canal Basin for a meal in the Spanish Tapas bar (which sadly turned into a nightclub - the last time we ever went to the canal basin it was full of drunks and litter) or nip into the centre of Hillfields for a curry at the sweet centre. Another under-utilised part of the city.

About a decade ago, Barratt Homes were kind enough to sponsor a running race along the Trail from the Canal Basin to Hawkesbury Junction, about 150 runners competing.

I've often walked or cycled along the Art Trail. Like many things in Coventry it is relatively unheard of but worthwhile (assuming you are reasonably mobile), and you can always finish it with a pint Cheers

Yes thanks for sharing Rob. Never knew they were there at all?! Look great apart from the idiots with the spray paint.
