Gosh, Tojoone, I bet that's worth a few bob! If you ever get it copied to DVD I want to buy one! There's a link to contact The National Archives. They might be interested - or suggest where else to go. There are some smart people on this website - maybe they'll know how to do it!

Hi Tojoone, welcome to our forum Wave Are you purely looking to sell this on "As is" - or are you looking for a facility to transfer it to digital medium? Maybe you could give us some idea of the tape it's on... tape width, reel size, recording speed, number of tracks etc?

While not wishing to rain on anyone's parade, TOOJONE'S copy of the video of the 1966 Ellington concert of Sacred Music, while possibly out of copyright on the performance side (I am uncertain as to the current legislation in Britain pursuant to performing rights), is still well within copyright on the composer/lyricist side. So, while the copyright holder (the Edward Kennedy "Duke" Ellington estate) probably would not be perturbed about a single copy in a single ownership, it would not be pleased about sales/rentals of the proceedings without remuneration to the estate. Fact is, folks, this tape constitutes intellectual property, and that remains within the purview of the copyright holder. Now, I am not saying DON'T DO IT, but I recommend that you not do it. All things considered though, I would love a copy of what I saw that evening, but I know I could not afford the quite legitimate asking price of the Ellington estate. Also, please understand that the Ellington estate probably holds a copy of the video, and has elected not to release it thus far.

The CD never came from Amazon - they kept apologising until eventually they informed me it was downloadable on iTunes. Interesting concert - religious themes as you would expect, but some good jazz too! Would be worth a visit!
