On my father's call up papers in 1939 it lists him as a Bed and Mattress maker in Coventry.
He lived at the Railway Cottages on Warwick Road.
Can anyone tell me which company he may have worked for and their location at the time.
Many thanks. |

Brilliant - I think it's highly likely he worked at the West Orchard company. He was very fond of the shopping centre at West Orchards - in fact he got his picture in the Coventry Telegraph back in 2007 for visiting over 5000 times!
I can get the cider just down the road but sadly I don't have a Somerset accent. I am a Coventry kid - in fact my ancestors lived in Holbrooks/Foleshill. Lots of my father's maternal side were ribbon weavers. My father's paternal side - his father and grandfather - worked on the railway, which is why he lived at Railway Cottages.
Thanks for your help with this - I'm sure I'll have lots more questions in the future.
