I think its power-related (CliffB reckons they were often left as too expensive to remove) though on the old plans it was labelled as a 'Mess' office -

Currently on Ebay I don't think I've seen a picture before of this section of the old Railway Workers Cottages on Warwick Road. It's numbers 1-6 which was the bit opposite the junction with Michaelmas Road.

Oh, that's just fantastic, Neil - I've never noticed that Station Master building in any photo before! I now need to update the pub site to reflect that the pub was at one time called the Railway Inn, not just Hotel.  |
