Hi all, I was delighted to receive this gift from one of my lady friends. I hope that all of you gentlemen have nice lady friends too, to buy you presents like this. Not only is it Coventry, but nearly Holbrooks, as the address on the label is Lythalls Lane. What a pip! Cheers It would be interesting to see what other items can be found that bear a Coventry manufacturers label. Wave Byatts Brewery

Byatts Brewery appears to be on the site of the last Foleshill Workhouse which is now an industrial estate. The map from 1887 shows the workhouse next to the original tram depot. It also shows Lythalls Lane as Foleshill Hall Lane and Old Church Road as Chapel Lane.

And these, disregard the Wood Brothers, but the other four are Coventry.

A few pubs in the city centre sell Byatts. It's decent enough.

I was interested to see the old map of Lythalls Lane. This site also became the Council Offices for Foleshill Urban District Council [perhaps within the Workhouse?] and was passed to Coventry Corporation when Foleshill became part of the city and ceased to exist in 1931. This site subsequently accommodated the Lythalls Lane Industrial Estate, the Fire Station, Housing Club and the Building Services Depot. The Tram Depot marked on the map was used as their Joinery Workshop until recent times and has not long been demolished. Tram lines could be seen in the yard and in the Workshop.

Didn't the workmen eg gas fitters for C/H to be fitted into council houses for the council used to work from Lythalls Lane depot, I knew a man called Mick who used to work for the council worked from that depot. Made in Coventry. Also the silver smiths in Lamb Street used to be King Street use to make jewellery my mum had a brooch made from there a leaf of a tree dipped into silver

In the 70's/early 80's (not too sure exactly when) I remember it belonged to 'Federation Brewery', brewers of that popular "Ace of Clubs" brand

That building was also once the Co-op bakery. I was a plant fitter there for a few months until I was offered a much better job at Draftex on the corner of Wolfe Rd and Torrington Ave. Les

The latest brewery in Coventry is Triumph Shadow Brewing, beer being brewed at a micro brewery in the shadow of the Triumph factory in Tile Hill. Have sampled two of their beers, Dolomite IPA and Propshaft Job, lovely.

Neither can only be supplied on a contribution towards ingredients basis as not yet governed by HMRC at the moment
