Is this a sad picture or what? Our Steven took it when he was 6 - the snow had gone but his snowman still clung on to his dignity - if not his nose!

Those are beautiful snow scenes Morgana. And hey, have you noticed how all the snowmen like playing on slides? Lol

Magical shots already coming in! I found an old photo that I liked and didn't know anything about the location. There are some details on the forum (growing up in Hillfields), the Dutchman was explaining the history of the place, regarding burials and then I found a pub nearby called the 'Freehold Tavern/Freemason's Tavern. Anyhow, it's a snowy old scene of a location full of history that wouldn't go amiss in a Charles Dickens novel. Jeffery Wood's Cross

And hey, have you noticed how all the snowmen like playing on slides? Lol Lol Lol I did Rob do you think the kids have a magic potion with the slides to bring the snow so they can have their snowmen to play on them. Wink

When I was five and living in Bond Street it upset me that the snow would be gone in a few days so I shovelled as much of it as I could onto a wooden board in a disused outhouse. Imagine my horror when I next looked in on my stockpile of snow only to find a damp patch where the snow had once been! Sad

Funny how children think, Dutchman sad it melted on you, also the things that upset children, which I always listen to children on what upsets them and I like you don't forget how we thought as a child when we thought we could keep things like snow, which to me should be one of the wonders of the world.

Thanks for the winter wonderland Rob, another enjoyable topic. Wonder how many children look out of their window in the morning to see if their snowman is still 'alive' only to see the little carrot nose lying forlorn on the grass. Roll eyes

Having seen the pictures in my comic of the characters throwing a bucket of water down the path and turning into a fabulous slide, I tried it. Result, a pathway of slush!! Sorry about this, but there were two snowmen in a field and one said "Can you smell carrots?"

Oh the poor Dutchman hoarding his snow-pile, I reckon it might have lasted longer if he had left it in situ like those lingering snowmen in the photo's! Definitely worth a try though, when he loved the stuff so much Thumbs up
