Can anyone tell me if the archives of the old Coventry Standard paper are available. I would like to locate an article in about 1954 when they did a series on newly built houses in the city. There should be a picture of my parents house that I would like to get if I can locate it.

Hi Argon, I don't know specifically about the Coventry Standard, but The Herbert do hold archive newspapers, so it might be worthwhile contacting them to find out. This link will send you to details of how to contact them.... www.theherbert.org Best of luck Thumbs up

The Coventry Central Library also had bound copies of local newspapers, although last time I wanted to look at them, the ones I wanted were on microfiche. I'm sure they used to have the Coventry Standard as well as the CET and its predecessor, the MDT, back to its earliest issues.

Thanks folks for your help. Thanks Rob, I will try the Herbert with an email. I don't know how much luck I will have with the Telegragh Mr D.Di as I am on the south coast and rarely visit Coventry these days. The house was in Leamington road opposite the Memorial Park Anne.
