Can you send a link to that Helen as I couldn't see it. Rosemary tells me that the building to the left on the print was my Uncle Ray's house (one of my grandad's brothers!) so I may have to bid!

I often look at that Garlands as I'm near the park. I'm still intrigued by the Arbour and associated 'wild beast' sculptures/carvings and still on the hunt to track down the Arbour's original location.

Neil, a 1929 article in the Coventry Telegraph when the arbour was given to the corporation says that JB Shelton said it was difficult to find out the age. He had been informed that a Mr Smith who was a clergyman, living at Aspley in Bedfordshire, had it erected in the garden. I imagine this is Aspley Guise and looking at google their are several houses that could have had something like that. Shelton said their was a number 1792 on the arbour but he thought it was older than that and that was the date it was moved.
