Organs (cinema, theatre, church, etc)

Thank you for that encouragement. I'm getting used to being a widower, so my domestic apparel takes centre stage at present. I'm kept busy music wise, with current chapel duties. Athough the smallest of Ringway organs, it is packed with samples, plus it's coupled to the chapel piano. That is fun. It's more than a gimmick, as it's brilliant for keeping the singing tempo going. I do have fun. Folks unaccustomed to the phantom piano, have quite a shock when it suddenly starts playing without a pianist sat at it, more so if I bring the piano in during a hymn or song.

Hi all, It's been a while since posting on here. I have recently fulfilled an engagement with classical organ, which hadn't really been my flavour of the month for many a year. I'm quite chuffed as I so enjoyed it. Reporting restrictions won't permit public broadcasting of any of the sound content, but I can do something even better. I can let you hear the lovely lady performing, who is very much my current inspiration, I listen to her performances, which beggar belief at just how fabulous she is. This isn't modesty. I'm not envious, because her performances lift me above that. Otherwise I would be. I do hope you enjoy. Stereo earphones or good hi-fi needed, please. Please make up your own mind. Even now, I've got goosebumps listening to that. If someone can pronounce her name, please.... If I get a like, I'll post two more. She can use couplers as here, or not. She can't see her feet! Try playing pedals wearing her tunic!!! This isn't the performance that I was going to post, but it's her footwork on this that demonstrates her total masterly capability. I have painful memories, as I sprained my ankle practicing this piece of music, getting my foot jammed between E flat & F sharp. It was a plaster cast job. How does she do this? PS. Hi Helen I've never heard that before. "organ - comes from Latin organum, from Greek oganon, "implement, instrument, tool"; it was first a very general term, but was then used for "wind instrument" and "functional part of the body." See also related terms for wind instrument".

Whilst down in Coventry last weekend we went to an organ recital in Holy Trinity Church on Saturday afternoon. Very good it was too, a good mix of music.

I did not know who Leslie James was but you have a picture of him on Coventry Digital which confirms it is him on the organ. There is a recording of him playing on YouTube.

Hi all, How often have I heard the expression, "If you don't use it, you might lose it" Well, I've been suffering with increased ear-waxing of late, which may be because I'm just not using my ears as intently as I used to. This is a professional diagnosis. When I'm playing an instrument, I'm constantly searching for the sounds that I want, for each phrase or sound bite. Sadly, the last five years I've simply not been doing that level of playing, so the wax that would be vibrated out as a normal process, isn't. So, is a new organ on prescription, I asked? No!!! So, in the new year, this little beauty might just be coming along. I was looking at the possibility of this instrument, just prior to Pam's illness. Pam wanted to buy me it, but I was in no mood for that kind of thing then. Short demo, or as long as you want But for Pam's illness, this would already have been here. Even without the complications of coupling to my music samples system that I have here. I like this instrument as it stands on its own. It's my kind of instrument.

It looks addictive. The ability to play all those instruments and put in percussion etc. Wow.

Hi Helen, There are more elaborate instruments than that, with a more elaborate price to go with them, but that instrument, is so me. It's designed as a theatre organ, not a home orchestra, but it does both very well, with its versatility.

Hi Anne, First answer, No. Second answer, it will be installed in my lounge, not the music room. Explanation. My son & his wife are preparing to come & live with me, if & when needed. He, as well as being fully employed, is also a committed band player. He's part of the band, Punch & Judas, they were playing at The Feathers near to Lichfield, last Tuesday evening. So, the space taken up by my previous music gear, in the railway room, will become his space. Our lounge is large as lounges go these days, with room to accommodate the RS1000e. The organ is basically for my amusement & chapel practice. So providing I'm not a nuisance to my immediate neighbour, I can cope with that. The space allocated, is at the opposite end of the lounge to our adjoining wall. I hope that makes sense. Thank you for asking. Sorry, the Feathers is in Lichfield. It was the Belgrave club near Tamworth, but they have played at several venues near to Tamworth.
