I think the picture on the front of the book could be Craven Street looking down towards Hearsall Lane.

I have asked Father Christmas for this book! At the moment I am reading "A History of Women's Lives in Coventry" which my daughter found in the Kenilworth bookshop. That should keep me quiet for a bit!

The Old Cross magazine, by W G Fretton. A free to read book from the British Library - it's a collection of magazines covering diverse subjects but mostly based round Coventry and Warwickshire. Interesting mix of subjects. There's even a run down of some of the options on why Coventry is called Coventry on page 216.

I, too, have this book and have really enjoyed it. It covers women's and girls' lives from 1850 to 1950. It was a watershed time in women's history.

Going through my late mother's books, I found a booklet by Joan C Lancaster CBE with excellent drawings by Robert Overy FRSA and printed in 1981, "A Guide to the Building, it's History and Contents". I don't think it's been opened since purchased. Has about 80 pages. If any seasoned poster here would like it, just get in touch via the contact button and I will send it on. Nice to think it's going to a good home where it can be appreciated. First one gets it.

I can confirm that it's a good book about St Mary's but I've already got it. Thumbs up

Update... the book has now been claimed by a forumite. I'm glad it's gone to a good home. Thank you for your messages.

I now have received the book and have already learned more about St Mary's Hall. I was last in the hall in the late 60's or early 70's so it's a bit of a trip down memory lane. Many thanks to "Ace5150" for passing it on! Double thumbs up

I just bought an old book I've never seen before - Coventry Views and Reviews (illustrated) up-to-date. Looks interesting from the ebay pics - lots of stuff on banks and industry from sometime early in the 1900s. Anybody got it?

Hi Helen, is it Coventry Up to date Views and Reviews, if so I do have it, it is an amazing book. This is the one I bought from Atherstone hospice shop several years ago, and because it was old they priced it at £3.99! It has so much information and pictures in it. You will love it.

It is Anne, thanks. Mine was £10 plus postage but second hand books are rocketing in price. Apart from the cost, I'm pleased that books get recycled. It looks like Rob has a copy too. I'm genuinely excited waiting for it to arrive.
