I don't think they ever found what happened to the Natal. It says at least 390 men were killed in the explosion. Scapa Flow must be a very sad place.

On 5th Sep 2023 10:14am, Mick Strong said: Got back last night from a "Lads & Dads" long weekend ramble around Milan. My son and me took in F1 qualifying on Saturday. The Monza GP at 3pm Sunday and then a quick dash to the San Ciro to get there in time for the KO of Inter Milan vs Florentino. Full on weekend, with lots of buses, trains and Metro's but still managed to record 17,000 + steps per day. But well worth it to spend so much quality time with him !! Thanks Calum x
I am so impressed, Mick, not just with your tremendous Dadding but with your energy and love for life. The Monza Grand Prix! Italian football match! 17,000 steps a day. I am in awe. Mums and sons has a nice ring about but what rhymes with daughters?

Rucksack packed ready for the off tomorrow. The next 30 miles of the Thames Path from Lechlade to Oxford. Wild camping on route, so no pressure to get anywhere at a particular time. 3 or 4 pubs on the route and should get finished on Thursday night.

We're in S. Carolina right now and have been 'enjoying' the mid to back end of a hurricane going up the east coast. Glad we're not camping, Mick, Hope you have a wonderful time.

Wednesday morning breaking camp with a direct view from the tent of the Thames. Got a bit wet Tuesday morning, but dried out by lunch time and weather stayed fine for the rest of the trip. Can highly recommend the steak and red wine pie at the Maybush in Newbridge.

Hi Mick, My son & daughter in law, were camping during August, up in Yorkshire pudding land, where the wind broke their main pole, so spent the remaining days staying in a guest house.

Hello, So many folk are using YouTube as a broadcast media, making it now the most populous of all. The viewing numbers outpace all the national broadcasting media. Many of you know that I've family roots into Cornwall, so I was delighted to discover video presentations of the county. It's just like being there almost. I've shared with them the nature of our forum. Cornish Walking Trails.

Philip, why do I think of yummy Cornish Pasties and notorious creamy ice cream. Not forgetting the scrumptious cider. I am wondering if the Drum Inn is still going strong ? There used to be a certain size of glass for the ladies. It was a tad strong to say the least. Double thumbs up

Sorry Philip. I /we only knew of the one, as we used to holiday most years down in Falmouth and travel around from there. It must have been around Dartmoor or into Cornwall. Strange as it may seem we met a couple at the Inn and they were holidaying there from Melbourne and it had been on our minds for a couple of years to take the plunge and give Australia a go. Also to show our two 'ankle biters' what it would be like downunder. Mind you, that was 49 years ago. I would have to ask you if you knew of another Drum Inn as I only remember the one. Alas my better half is no longer with me now otherwise he would certainly have known of another Drum Inn. The one glass of Scrumpy I had made me feel tipsy and I have never tasted anything like it since. I am going to dig and delve now to find the other one. Double thumbs up

Hi Dreamtime, The most potent drink that I ever drank was triple vintage cider, locally processed at Bodmin Burrough Arms. The apples used included Cornish Russets. I was forced to leave my car in the carpark, then retrieve it the next day. I wasn't drunk. It was an odd feeling like walking on air. Almost an anaesthetic.

Love that Scrumpy. We used to holiday in Cornwall and Devon when I was a kid and I seem to remember the sun was always shining. My dad refused to go north for the Coventry holiday fortnight as it was too cold 'up there.'
