Coventry Assurance Society

This is some information for anyone who has a policy with the above friendly society which used to be based in Queens Road Coventry. It appears that they closed down a couple of years ago and all their assets were transferred to another society based in Bury, Lancashire. When looking through some old paperwork I found such a policy which my mother had taken out in the 1940's. Unfortunately, after contacting the above company I have found that the policy is "paid up" and has no value. But other people might have more luck! It's worth a try.

It took a bit of detective work to find out what had happened to the society. If you Google the name you still get the Coventry address and (non working) telephone numbers. It was only after I found an on-line document from a firm of solicitors that mentioned the take-over, that I was able to find the above details.

The burial club moved to Bury? How apt!
