Unfortunately, it's hospital outpatients, not the doctor's, and in 2011 the outpatients looks very similar as far as attendance is concerned

I was on the gynaecology ward in the late 60s, my surgeon I think was a Mr Mawson, he was wonderful. The food was fabulous, as I'm a vegetarian the chef came on the ward so I could thank him for the meals he made, even the tomatoes were cut into roses, where is he now? Our local hospital, Scarborough, has had the James Martin treatment, herbs in everything, I lost 4lb in weight in four days, through lack of eating. I'm a pure Yorkshire women and like to taste my food minus herbs. Thanks again for everything .

I'm doing some research for a book that I'm writing, does anyone remember the names of the wards at the Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital. I worked there as a maintenance carpenter/joiner in the mid 60s.

I remember from my stay in C&W hospital with a broken leg in 1959 that the 2 main wards were called Philip and Elizabeth (or it may have been Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth - I am no longer sure). Upstairs was a ward called Smith Clark, where the recovering patients who did not need such intensive care were moved. I hope this helps. I am sure other members will be able to provide more details.

Although they both had that Royal connection, they were called Philip and Elizabeth as you stated first..

Thanks for your info. In the mid 60's I worked with three other maintenance carpenters & joiners at the Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital. Two of them were deaf and dumb, the younger one who's first name may have been Paul was a very friendly person and explained to me as best he could that he had a heart condition, several months later he passed away. In memory of him a ward at the hospital was named after him. I would like to know the name of that ward.

Pete, for the purpose of elimination if nothing else, one of the wards was 'Adams' - I believe this was named after a benefactor who was Sales Director of the Alvis in the late 20's, early 30's (and my wife's grandfather) Smith-Clarke ward also had an Alvis connection. GT Smith-Clarke being their Chief Engineer and Works Manager.

Was Watson ward Cov & Warwick or Gulson??

Thanks Vernon. Watson ward was the one I was after. Watson ward at Cov & Warwick was the one named after the deaf and dumb carpenter who died from heart complications. I used to work with him there, a real nice guy he was too.

That was the entrance way that we mostly used as maintenance workers.
