Hello Coventrians! At last I have finished my manuscript, "Not Devil Enough". The story of the Weavers' Riot of 1831 and my ancestor, Thomas Burbury, who was tried and convicted as the ringleader. I'm finally visiting Coventry (travelling from Australia) in August next year to retrace his steps on that fateful day and re-live the sensational trial at the Old County Courthouse. It's a long way off, but I'm very excited! I'm yet to secure a publisher but if anyone has any ideas, let me know. I'm also up for ideas on places to visit while I'm there. A big thanks again to everyone who helped with the research back in 2020.

Have you considered self-publishing on Amazon? It's remarkably easy. You'll have to do the promotional work yourself, but from experience, you'll have to do that with a publisher anyway. Join every Coventry group you can find on the internet/facebook and gently promote it. Just my 2d's worth. Wink

I know several people who self publish on Amazon and have been quite successful and you'd be right in the midst of the worlds largest bookseller's inventory. I would suggest that you add a subtitle to your book, maybe The story of the Coventry Weaver's Riots. By adding Coventry to your title you'd reach a targeted audience, I know I put it the city when I'm in the book search engine regularly. people from all over the world should be able to buy it especially on Kindle. BTW - I learnt on a visit to Norwich last month that the weavers in that city also had huge riots.

All good advice. There might be other crossover fields to place a mention. eg sites about weaving, industry, 19th century, class struggle, riots, English history, history based novels etc.

Yes, I'm certainly considering self-publishing but will look to find a traditional publisher first.
