A slight aside but following the recent post on Facebook - I hadn't realised Clint Eastwood made an early appearance in the 1955 Universal Film Lady Godiva of Coventry. Apparently it was only his third film!

Nice photo, but shame that whoever wrote the caption spelt her name "Wrigg" wrong! Wink

Wasn't me, Rob with the wrong name spelling! Also, I have no memory of the restaurant still there at that date! Long after the cinema had been bombed. For a time there was a Rex market I think.

I was only a few feet away from her when she got on her horse in Memorial Park. She was 'wearing' a flesh coloured bikini and riding side saddle. There had been much discussion in the Evening Telegraph as to whether a Coventry girl would take the part but in the end it was an 'actress from London'.

She was reported as saying that she wore "... something like a nylon net bikini swim suit". Thumbs up

Legend has it that it was on this day in 1040 that Lady Godiva made her famous ride.

Don't know if anyone has looked at the JJ Ward collection on Coventry Digital with a few Godiva processions.

Also... Link for the collection. Some seem to be named incorrectly - I'll have to go through them. Ben
